Eren Akşahin (* 1992) is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, teacher, and artist. Born into a musical Kurdish-Alevi family, Eren was exposed to traditional Anatolian folk music from an early age. His musical journey began with a special connection to the Bağslama, an instrument that became a central part of his artistic expression.

Eren's musical prowess encompasses a range of plugged instruments, showcasing his versatility and passion for creating captivating melodies. From exploring the intricacies of the guitar, Baglama & Oud to crafting engaging compositions for divers musical formations, Eren's command of plugged instruments can be seen as his brush & paint.

As a composer, Eren blends Anatolian folk music with contemporary influences. Through his compositions, he strives to create musical narratives that resonate with listeners.. Eren's compositions are characterized by emotive melodies and harmonious arrangements, demonstrating his perception of modal music of the east in a contemporary context.

His performances and compositions are characterized by a strong sensitivity and authenticity, the foundations of Anatolian folk music, as well as by an emphasis on beauty of sound and innovation on his own instrument.

Eren Akşahin obtained his professional musical education at the Conservatory in Rotterdam, specializing in “World Music” with a particular focus on Anatolian Music and Bağlama. He obtained a Bachelor's degree in this field. In 2017, Eren accomplished his master's degree, where he further honed his skills in Bağlama, guitar, and composition. During his studies, Eren dedicated himself to exploring the integration of the Bağlama into chamber music, receiving valuable instruction from esteemed mentors such as Kemal Dinc, Robin de Raaf, Dr. Oscar v. Dillen, and Paul v. Brugge.


Eren Akşahin's career as a performer has included collaborations with esteemed musicians like Dodan Mir, Kemal Dinc, Ahmet Aslan, Sakina Teyna, and many others. His talent has taken him to renowned venues, including a performance at the prestigious Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. In 2012, Eren had the honor of being part of the Augsburg Peace Festival, where he performed alongside the Augsburg Philharmonic. Notably, Eren had a remarkable opportunity to perform with his artistic and musical idol, maestro Carlo Domeniconi, as a member of the Kemal Dinc trio at the Ochsenfurter Guitar Festival.

Currently Erens projects encompass a diverse range of musical styles. From traditional folkloristic music to ethno-jazz crossovers and Western chamber music, he showcases his instrumental prowess and introduces audiences to his original compositions. Through these projects, Eren explores the intersections of different genres, creating unique and captivating musical experiences for listeners.
